Project Description
This was a complex project involving asbestos removal and demolition to the Boiler House for the Ministry of Education in the Wairarapa Region.
Our stage one was asbestos removal and disposal under Fully Controlled Conditions (FCC) inside the Boiler House. After successful clearance inspection on the internal part, we moved to stage two of the project, which involved removal of all non-friable asbestos under Semi Controlled Conditions (SCC). The final stage of the job for our team was demolition of the entire building, concrete slab, footpaths and chimney.
Once we completed the final stage, we successfully handed the site over to our client, and received great feedback that everything was completed on time even during the short school holiday. It was quite a challenging project and we were worried about completing it on time due to heavy rain and flooded roads. Not to mention, everyone involved in the job had problems getting to site as well.
Although this was no easy job due to the sensitivity of the school setting, our PRO Environmental Services team did exceptionally well in ensuring we completed the project with extra precautions and under the current regulations. This included informing WorkSafe with five days’ notification prior to asbestos removal work.
As usual, we carefully planned the entire project with the client prior to starting. The planning process included only a few site meetings due to the short time frame for completion. We then completed the project in 10 days as planned, and also included some additional work as well. Our asbestos removal team worked seven days a week in 12-hour shifts to complete the project ahead of the deadline.
Thanks to the proactive nature of our PRO Environmental Services team, we were able to deliver all requested works on time and make a great client very happy.
