Project:

Asbestos Cement Fascia Removal

Location

Porirua

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile Asbestos

This asbestos cement removal was necessary as fascia panels to the canopy were damaged over the years.

Our PRO Environmental Services team was appointed by a commercial client to complete asbestos removal.

The main challenge of this project was that it was in a working hospital, with the project located in one of the entrances. All asbestos removal works were planned well before we began, and everything went well and according to the plan. We completed the job over the weekend to ensure the least possible disruption to the hospital while it was less busy.

An independent inspector provided an asbestos clearance inspection, and we have also received great feedback from the client after this project.

Project:

Friable asbestos removal – Lift shaft environmental clean to 17 floors across 4 shafts.

Location

Wellington CBD

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile, Amosite Asbestos

Project Description

Lift shaft environmental clean and asbestos removal and disposal under Fully Controlled Conditions (FCC).

We ensure that nothing is missed when it comes to setting up safely and carrying out the works to ensure our team and the tenants are safe throughout the process. For this project, we helped our client to remove and dispose of asbestos safely and efficiently. This type of work was notified to WorkSafe with five days’ notification prior to asbestos removal work.

Everything was planned prior to starting together with the client and assessor during a few site meetings due to the sensitive environment and tenants on each floor. The project was completed in 25 days as planned, and also included some additional work.

Our asbestos removal team was working six days a week on 12-hour shifts to complete the project ahead of the deadline. The client requested to set up fast wall hoarding on landing areas and this task was also completed by our PRO Environmental Services team.

Project:

Non-friable asbestos removal – internal asbestos cement walls and ceilings panels, decramastic roof tiles. Friable asbestos removal –  asbestos paper back vinyl floor.

Location

Waikanae

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile Asbestos

Project Description

This project included the removal and disposal of the internal asbestos cement walls and ceilings panels from a retirement village in Waikanae. Both the walls and panels contained asbestos, and were part of the stage one works for this retirement village project.

Stage two of our works included the complete removal of two floors containing paperback vinyl asbestos. Stage three commenced immediately afterwards and included decramastic roof tile removal. After the roof tile removal, the client requested to have it weather proofed due to a rainy forecast, so we actioned this weatherproofing straight after final clearance with an independent assessor.
We worked on asbestos removal projects on two properties at same time, which helped to save time because the client wanted to continue with other works as soon as possible.

The chrysotile asbestos removal works on this project were quite last minute, but we were able to accommodate them fairly quickly and completed two houses in just six days.

Project Description

The process started with a single site visit where we assessed the site prior to asbestos removal. Our client requested the removal of all items from the survey report. We took all measurements and we provided a quote within 24 hours.

Upon acceptance, we started preparation of our Plan of Work, which included a full list of equipment and materials required to complete this project safely.

Once all the paperwork was fully verified by another asbestos manager, we submitted notification to WorkSafe and placed the order with our suppliers.

The job took four days from start to completion.

Chrysotile Asbestos

Project Description

This project included window removal containing two types of asbestos putties under Semi Controlled Conditions (SCC).

We carried out asbestos removal on the ground floor area. This project involved specific safe removal procedures due to the high risk of window removal. Everything was planned before we started, and risk was assessed properly by our Asbestos Manager.

We erected site fencing to prevent unauthorised access to a high hazard and high interest site.

We completed the job ahead of deadline and within the budget, and were pleased to receive great feedback from the client-appointed main contractor and assessor who conducted a visual inspection after our removal works.

Project:

Friable asbestos removal – textured coating – popcorn to plasterboard.

Location

Wellington CBD

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile, Asbestos

Project Description

This project involved asbestos removal of textured coating ‘popcorn’ under Fully Controlled Conditions (FCC).

We received a phone call from a client two days before New Year’s Eve with a question if we could help with asbestos refurbishment, demolition survey, and potentially asbestos removal work. We answered the phone during the holiday period, then our team was on-site the next day to conduct the asbestos survey.

A few days later, after all the results from our survey and identification of asbestos-containing materials, we were ready to remove the asbestos safely. The client was in a rush because they wanted to continue with renovation works and move in ASAP.

We received a great review from the client after work completion.

Project:

Non-friable asbestos removal and dwelling demolition – external cladding sheets.

Location

Pukerua Bay

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile, Asbestos

Project Description

We were asked by our client to remove asbestos cement cladding sheets and demolish an old dwelling.

Within just a few days, our team had arranged all the documentation and we were able to get started on site. The result was another happy client who now had more space in his garden.

The project was completed in two days despite quite awkward access to the site, and 120 metres of walking distance down the stairs with asbestos and demolition waste.

Project:

Friable asbestos removal – Boiler room, millboard AIB (Asbestos Insulation Board) gaskets and ropes.

Location

Wellington CBD

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile Asbestos

Project Description

Due to a planned refurbishment, our regular client engaged our services for asbestos removal in a boiler room.

The main challenge on this job was enclosure construction due to the height of the roof needed, which had to be built at 5 metres in height. We are experts in this type of environment, and work was planned for ten days but still completed in just eight.

We were very happy with the result achieved. A boiler room is a very specific environment and not easy to clean due to dust accumulated on surfaces over the years. Our team is highly trained and has great experience with this type of work, and we didn’t have any problems achieving a four-stage clearance assessment with a client-appointed independent assessor just from the first enclosure inspection.

Surface test and air monitoring were conducted straight after visual inspection and all results were satisfying.

Project:

Non-friable asbestos removal – external cladding and soffits in a house and garage.

Location

Upper Hutt

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile Asbestos

Project Description

This commercial project initially had to wait due to shortages of building materials. Finally, materials were available and we could commence the asbestos removal stage.

The project was completed safely in four days involving the removal of 160m2 of asbestos cladding and 60 linear metres of asbestos soffits. We disposed of the waste in designated landfill spaces according to current rules and regulations.

Project:

Non-friable asbestos removal – external cladding and soffits.

Location

Johnsonville

Type of Asbestos

Chrysotile Asbestos

Project Description

This asbestos cladding and soffit removal at a residential property in Johnsonville was completed professionally in just four days.

The client’s plan was to renew the old asbestos cladding and build an extension. Therefore, it was vital that the project was carried out by a reputable company that would complete the job when promised to avoid delaying the extension and re-clad works.

PRO Environmental Services was asked to carry out asbestos testing in a few locations to identify asbestos before any work started. We completed asbestos testing the next day and the results were with the client that same day.

On this particular project, the builder asked us to weatherproof the house after our asbestos removal works. It was absolutely not an issue for our team as we have great experience in weatherproofing. The property owner was very pleased with our work and he gave us a five-star Google review straight after project completion.

We were lucky enough to have a random WorkSafe inspection on this site to check if we were following all asbestos removal rules and working according to regulations. The inspector was impressed and passed on great feedback after the site inspection and documentation review.
